Below are some easy household tips to help with your house cleaning.

Cleaning Windows:

A great household tip for cleaning your windows. Get your ingredients a spray bottle and make your windows shiny and streak free.

  • 1 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup non-sudsy ammonia
  • 1 cup water

This window cleaning recipe is toxic so make sure you label your spray bottle and keep it up and out of reach of children.

Polishing Furniture:

Make your furniture shine with this furniture polish recipe. Mix ingredients in a spray bottle.

  • 2 tablespoons lemon oil
  • 2 cups mineral oil

Cleaning Pots and Pans:

SOS pads are a great way to remove baked on foods from pots and pans. Although these don't cost a lot, it never really takes the whole pad for scrubbing yet the whole pad gets thrown away. So cut them in half and you'll have them on hand for a long time.

Removing Odors:

If you have a dirty cutting board that smells, slice a lemon in half. Scrub this over the cutting board. Let sit a few minutes, rinse, and wipe dry.

Baking soda is something most all of us have in the kitchen cabinet. Not only can you use it to cook with, it's also a natural at odor removal. Use baking soda in the refrigerator, sprinkled on carpets, and in the cat box to remove odors.

Vinegar will also effectively remove odors and it's non-toxic and natural. It won't harm you or your pets. Vinegar can be used to clean a coffee pot, it can be used to clean and deodorize the bathroom, remove pet stains, and clean windows. It's so versatile the things we list are only a few.

Homemade Air Fresheners:

Do you have a room that needs a little pick me up? Here are a few recipes that are easy to make and will freshen any room.

Essential Oil Room Freshener:

For this recipe all you need is a small jar with a lid (like a baby food container), cotton ball, and your favorite scent.

  • Take the lid of the jar and poke holes in the top.
  • Put the cotton ball in the jar and pour 1 teaspoon of your favorite essential oil over the cotton ball.
  • Seal the jar and place it in the room. If the area is larger, make a couple of these and place them at opposite ends of the room.

Spray Air Freshener:

Another quick and easy recipe for freshening the air in a room. For this recipe you'll need a spray bottle, distilled water, and your favorite essential oil. I have used empty body spray bottles and washed them out thoroughly for re-use. This recipe will be based on using a bottle of this size.

  • Fill the container with the distilled water.
  • Add essential oil to the water and shake.
  • The amount of essential oil to use will depend on the scent you are using. Some are stronger than others. Start with about 8 drops and do a test spray. Add more depending on your liking.

Some essential oils you might enjoy are orange, lemon, cinnamon, grapefruit, rosemary, coconut oil, and lavender.
