Panasonic Canister Vacuum Cleaner Review

Review of the Panasonic Variable Suction Canister Vacuum

The MC-CG381 is a canister style vacuum manufactured by Panasonic. It features the ability to have variable suction.

The MC-CG381 has a thermal sensor to protect the motor in the event of overheating. The vacuum will shut off if the motor overheats.

The Variable Suction Canister Vacuum is lightweight and maneuverable. It weighs less than 9 pounds, and has soft wheels to protect wood floors.

This vacuum is economically priced from about $65, and uses disposable vacuum bags. The manufacture warranties the MC-CG381 for 1 year.

Panasonic Canister Vacuum Features:

  • Variable Suction
  • Accessories
  • Retractable Cord
  • Nozzle Width

Variable Suction:

The MC-CG381 has two suction speeds, a high speed and a low speed.

You’ll be able to use the high speed when vacuuming floors, and change to the lower speed if you are vacuuming delicate fabrics.

Accessories:

The Variable Suction Canister Vacuum comes with a couple of accessories designed to make your cleaning as easy as possible.

Included with the vacuum is an extendable chrome wand to make above floor cleaning as easy as possible, and upholstery too, a dusting brush, and crevice tool for cleaning stairs and other hard to reach areas.

Retractable Cord:

Retractable cords are a nice, bonus feature. The 17 foot long cord is stowed away neatly with the touch of a button.

Nozzle Width:

The MC-CG381 has a 12 inch nozzle width which is wide enough to make your vacuuming go quickly without too many passes required through a room, but small enough to make the vacuum maneuverable into many smaller areas.

Panasonic Canister Vacuum Recommendations:

This model is not recommended simply due to the fact that replacement bags are difficult to find.

This vacuum features a foam pre motor filter and disposable paper bags.

If you have allergy sufferers in your home, you may want to consider a vacuum that has HEPA filtration.

Pros:

This model is light weight and easy to maneuver.

The vacuum bags are easy to change due to the easy open dust cover.

The vacuum is easy to maintain. There is one filter that may occasionally need changing, and clean up on the body of the vacuum is done with just a damp cloth.

Cons:

Replacement vacuum bags are difficult to find. You can order them directly from Panasonic, but this is inconvenient.

The wand assembly does not fit snuggly together. There are no clips or anything to hold the wands together, and they tend to come apart while in use.

There is no beater bar on the nozzle. This means the vacuum is going have limited effectiveness on carpeted areas.
